Dr. Jacob Russell Hagenbucher DPM, AACFAS is the first fellow of the Portland Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship, under the direction of Dr. Michael Gentile. Dr. Hagenbucher has a passion for education and is completing a fellowship so he can better educate his patients, medical students, and residents in his future medical practice.
Dr. Hagenbucher graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology: Human Performance from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. During his undergraduate education, Dr. Hagenbucher acted as a teaching assistant for several Biomechanics and Physiology courses.
He continued his passion for education during his Podiatric Medical education at Des Moines University – College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA. Dr. Hagenbucher was a tutor for Pharmacology and Anatomy courses. Additionally, he was a teaching assistant for the Anatomy, Lower Limb Anatomy, and Physical Diagnosis courses for the DO, DPM, PA, and PT students. Dr. Hagenbucher had the opportunity to work with several medical specialties and realizes the importance of an inter-disciplinary team to get his patient’s back on the right track.
Dr. Hagenbucher completed a rigorous three year residency in rearfoot reconstruction and trauma at Legacy Health/Kaiser Permanente in Portland, OR where he acted as a Co-Chief resident. He has authored several research papers which have been published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association (JAPMA). He attends the yearly American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons National Conference to stay up to date on the newest surgical innovations and techniques.
When Dr. Hagenbucher is not trying to further his education, he enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest and traveling with his wife (Emmalee) and Siberian husky (Summit). Additionally, he enjoys brewing beer and making sourdough bread.
